
More like a business than the "landlord only" status of most port districts, Clarkston is an "operating" port, choosing to run its equipment and terminal functions normally contracted to a third party. Land is for lease, not for sale, but the Port will "build-to-suit" or tenants may construct their own facilities. Current clients ranges from large agri-business and forest products firms to a 50-unit antique mall and small entrepreneurial enterprises in manufacturing, retail, and service sectors.
